The Rev. Mr Gillies.

fBY TELEGRAPH.) I (UNITED PHESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin. March 23. The Rev A. C. Gillies was before the Presbytery to-day over a protest by someot his elders against a ruling winch he gave m the Kirk Session. Amongst other things, Mr Gillies was charged with calling his elders ' bullocks' and ' idiots/ but he denied to the presbytery that he had done so, though he saH he had seen both. Another charge was that he had told certain youog men to hold their tongues. To this Mr Gillies replied that if he did, it was a very good thing— it would be a very great blessing to humanity if a good many people kept their mouths shut. The whole affair is a congrega* tional squabble, and the presbytery appointed a committee to inquire and report upon it.
