The Ryan Case.
THE TIMARU DEFAULTER. (by telegraph.) [united press .associamcn.J Timartj, March 17.' When the District Court was continued, the cases against the Ryan family came, on, and the prisoners' counsel applied for an adjournment, pending an appeal to the Supreme Court to annul the bankruptcy of Pattick Ryan on technical grounds, but his Honor held that the public convenience was at stake, a number ot witnesses being present from distances, and he suggested that all parties would be suited by trying the eases and deferring sentences pending the result of the appeal case. The conspiracy trial against P. Ryan, wife, and daughter, then proceeded, -'The jury returned a verdict of guilty, against the husband ond wife, and not guilty against the daughter. Judge Ward pointed out that this amounted to a verdict of not guilty against .the two former, as husband and wife could not conspire together, and they were consequently discharged. Patrick Ryan will 09 charged to-morrow with fraudulent bankruptcy. This is the Ryan family who were arrested m Melbourne some time ago.
