London, March 16. i In the House of Lords to-day Earl Derby, secretary of State for the 1 colonies, announced that the Government had decided only to remonstrate with the Boers us to their, oppression of the natives. The cost of a small expeditoni to the Transvaal would exceed the value of the land m dispute. The natives, his Lordship added, would be protected, but only m the last extremity would force be justified. In the House of Commons t -day, the Hon. Evelyn Ashley, Undpr-Seo-retary for the Colonies, stated that the Anglo-philo chiefs of the Transvaal border will be pensioned and looated m British territory.
