Successful Invention.
Our farming readers will find something interesting m the ] followide paragraph from the North Otago Times : Messrs Reid and Gray have been for a year or two experimenting m the direction of turning" out a reaper and binder that would meet all the requirements and exigencies of harvesting m New Zealand, and judging by»the trial that took place ou the farm of Mr John Wilson, of Papakaio, the firm has left little to be desired beyond "what it has achieved. The machine thnit was tried is a string bindsr, and notwithstanding the fact that the crop it was operating upon was green (beingcut for hay) and had a heavy sole of grass, the reaper performed its work evidently to the satisfaction of the practical farmers who were~presenfc About -7^ acres were cut during the trial, it having appeared that the machine could ba driven at any rate .of spe«d without impairing its*effectiveness. This is the first trial the machine has had, and the excellent adjustment of its working parts was exemplified m the smoothness with which it did the work required of it. . ; :
