A meeting of tho Board took pace yesleiday ; Present — Messrs Skeimin, (Chairmnn) Edwards, Englea, Newcome, and McEwen. The inifiut.- . of laot meeting wern read and confirmed, and the debit balance was stated as L 702 9<j 9d. The following correspondence was then read :— Letter from Treasury re remittance of all monies due to the Board on account of the Kairanga district, to 31st of December la^t. that L 36 4s bad bean paid, and that the balanc of L 253 4s 5d would be remitte 1 when the specifications "or roads had been approved by the Waste Lands Board. From Henry Haynes, re payment tor 80 chains of bushfelling, Referred to Kiwitea Board. Fr>m R. Andrawarthur, re same, stating that he had benn promised payi meat m two years, and that that time had elapsed — No funds available. From Secretary Public Works re LSOO for opening up roa-ls to Crown Linds, statiug that the Board's communication had baen fo- varied to Minister of Lands for his approval. DEPUTATIONS Mr Bak»*r waited on the Board re craning ditch on Bunny thorpe road. The Board could not promise any immediate assistance. Mr Linton wnit<?d on the Board re an answer to ppti ion presented at last meeting for work to be done on Healy's Line. A sonaewh «t lengthy discussion took place between M r Linton and members of the Board, but the latter decided that however much they might desire it, it was impassible for them to do anything at present, although Mr Linton promised to advance the money for a time. NOTICE OF MOTION. Mr Skerman gave notice of motion to the effect that the resolution passed at last meeting re forstalling rates be rescinded. RESOLUTION. Proposed by Mr Newcome and seconded hy Mr Engels — That no money acct ding from the general rates levied by this Board be spent m future m metalUng; any formed road m any suhvli vision ot the district until all other roads iv the same sub -division are formed, except on a petition of a majority of ratepayers m the said Subdi vi sion — Carried. Proposed by Mr Newcome, and seconded by Mr En gels — That m all cases m forming new roads, those roads on which the propeity is situated, and has been longest paying rates, and m which the greatest number of settlwrg are ac* dally residing, shall be formed first, except on the petition of a majority of ratepayers concern3d.— Carried, Proposed by Mr Newcomr.e, and seconded by Mr Engels — That the chairman write to the Minister of Lands, asking that gentleman to be {"eased to give authority to this Bo*rd for expending the £500 m Fitsherlert; also ioc expending the £400 Dlaced on the estimates for opening up Crown Lands, at his earliest convenience, as the money could be more beneficially expended now than m the wet saaton. — C*rried. Proposed that Mr Braes be communicated with 83 to what bum would be allotted for Taoaui riding, and when it was proposed to ba expended.— -Car. i ried. Proposed that a special meeting be called on a reply being received from the Government re the grant of £500, as to the best means of disposing of the same.— Carried, TENDERS. One tender was received for No. 1 ! contract, but was held over for the pre- j di-nt, as was the same with No. 2 contract. For work on Hamilton's Line the tender of A. and T. McEwen at 11s 9d per chain was accepted. After the account* had been passed, the meeting adj turned till the 14t.h of March,
