An American Tragedy.

[Per Mail Steamer.] Baldwin, known as " Lucky Baldwin," the proprietor of the hotel and theatre m San Francisco that bears his name, and one of the rich men of the city, was shot by a female cousin named Venora Baldicin on the 4th instant, but not killed. The woman accused Baldwin of ruining her m body and mind, and refusing to make the slightest reparation. Baldwin says she is partially insane. The affair took, place m the corridor ot the hotel. The first shot, 'aimed at his heart, missed, but the second, fired while Baldwin was retreating, caught him m the left arm, inflicting a very painful wound. His assailant expressed) herself, on arrest, as sorry she had not killed him.
