In reference to the distress m Ireland about which questions have been asked m Parliament, it appears .4r.om the letter of the special correspondent of the Irish Times that m the county of. Clare great" distress , is, threatened, owing to the failure of the potato crop and an epidemic among , pigs, and dear^rioesj Itie taxes levied on the farmers by the Grimes Act are a very lieary burden. Public works are recommended. The country, it .is stated, presents a most melancholy and nninTiting r a^peara > m!e. Fields and Meadows' are' deluged with water, and men, '.^ojmen^'cliildren/pigs, calves , cows, dogs) and chicken aria all herded together in ' miserable dwellings.
