The Elopement case.
At the Wanganui R.M. Court yesterday W. Wakefield was brought up on remand, charged on the information of Bichard Robinson with having stolen from his dwelling-house at Makino, two trunks containing wearing apparel, and a sewing machine of the value of £11 9s 6d. Accused was remanded/ on application of Mr Hutchison, who appeared for him. to Feilding to appear on Wednesday next. This claim arises (says the Herald ) out of an alleged elopement case m which the parties 1 went to Nelson for a holiday, and the deserted husband issued a warrant for the arresc of accused on the charge before the Bench. Although it is about a month since the adventure, accused was only discovered about a week ago and sent back to Wanganui without his, protege, who, "alone and forsaken," ; remains under the protection, of a Nelson clime. It appears, however, that she had the good sense to enter all her worldly possessions removed from her husband's house at Feilding m her, own name for carriage by land and sea to " Sleepy JIollow," and, if so, the disconcerted husband must yet mourn bis loss unsolaced and unavenged.
