A cake of gold weighing 3220zs was brought from Macetown reef on Saturday, the outcome of 149 tons stone. Joseph Kendall, a gold miner at Blue Spur, was killed while proceeding from Lawrenco to the Blue Spur. Death is said to have ensued from a fall from his horse. The deceased was a widower without a family. Henry Hissocks, 12 years of age, was drovtned in the Cl utha River, at Roxburgh, whilst bathing. The police and others have dragged the river in the vicinity in the hope of finding the body, but without success.
