A TABLE OF PROHIBITIONS, INWARDS.

Under the Customs Regulation Act, 1858. GOODS ausolutely prohibited to be imported. Books wherein the copyright shall lie first subsisting, first composed or written or printed, in the United Kingdom or in New Zealand, and printed or reprinted in any other part of the world, as to which the proprietor of such copyright or his agent shall have given to the Commissioner a notice in willing that such copyright subsists, such notice also stating when such copyright will expire. Coin of the realm, or of any British possession, or any money, purporting to be such, not being of the established standard in weight or fineness. •Indecent or obscene prints, paintings, books, cards, lithographic or other engravings, or other indecent nr obscene articles. All such infected cattle, sheep, or other animals, and hides, skins, horns, hoofs, or any other part of cattle or other animals, as the Governor in Council shall at any lime prohibit, in order to prevent any infectious or contagious distemper or disease. Spirits (not being perfumed or medicinal spirits), unless in ships of forty lons burden at least, :md in casks ur other vessels capable of containing liquids, each of such casks or other vessels being of the size or content of fourteen gallons at the least, ainl duly reported, or in glass bottles or stone bottles not exceeding the size of three pint bottles, and being really part of the cargo of the importing ship and duly reported. Sun If or tobacco, unless in ships of forty tons burden at least, and in whole and complete packages, each containing not less than sixty pounds nett weight, and not containing any other goods, and unless into such ports as may he approved by the Governor for the importation of tobacco. Cigars, unless in ships of forty tons burden tit least, and in packages containing not less than sixty pounds nett weight, or not less than ten thousand in number each, and not containing a 113- other goods ; and unless into such ports as are or may be approved as last aforesaid. Opium, unless in ships of forty tons burden tit least, and in whole and complete packages, each containing not less than fort \’-five pounds nett weight : and not containing any other goods, and unless into such ports as arc* or may he approved by the Governor for the importation and warehousing of opium.
