DANCING ACADEMY. MR. LEWIS, Professor of Dancing,. has the pleasure to inform the Residents of Blenheim and the surrounding districts that his Class is now established at Blenheim, every Monday and Thursday ; at the Big Bush, Tuesdays and Fridays, from Half-past Six to Half-past Ten, p.m , when all the Fashionable Dances of the day will be taught. The Juvenile Class will open on Monday, 24th instant, and continue every Monday and Thursday, from Half-past Two to Halfpast Four, when the carriage of the figure will be attended to and Calisthenic Exercises taught. The following Dances will be practiced at every Class: —Quadrilles, Lancers, Cale donians, Queen’s Quadrilles, Mazurka Quadrilles, Polka Quadrilles, Circassian Circle, Spanish Waltz, Country Dances, Waltzes, Deux Temps Waltz, Deux Temps Gallop, Celarius, Waltz Cotillon Polka, La Faso vienne, Schotiische, Polka Mazurka, Balance and Slide Sehottische, Double Schottische, and Sir Roger de Coverley. Mr. L. would wish to add, for the information of the public, that having had the honour of teaching in two of the first Ladies’ Academies in Wellington, and also taught over 300 pupils from the highest in the province, 'who are allowed to be the most graceful and accomplished dancors inNew Zealand. Private Lessons at any hour; Private Families and Schools attended, Music in eluded. Terms may be known on application; Fees paid in advance. All communications addressed to the care of Mr. Sutherland, Big Bush ; Mr. Craig, Royal Hotel; Mr. Hyde, Commercial Hotel; will be attended to. TO THE INHABITANTS OF RENWICKTOWN. Mr. Lewis will pay a professional visit to the above town on an early day, and, should inducement offer, attend every week. OPINIONS OF THE PRESS. Wc have great pleasure in drawing the attention of our readers to the quadrille ball at Mr. Lewis’s rooms, as advertised in our columns for Monday, lltli instant. For a length of time, Mr. Lewis’s pupils and balls have been the theme of admiration of the visitors frequenting this fashionable and well-conducted establishment. The previous entertainments of this description have always met with a large amount of patronage, and have been carried out with great spirit. Wc are well-assured, therefore, that nothing will be wanting, on the part of Mr. Lewis, to render this ball even more attractive than any previously given.—Australian paper. Race Ball. —Wc are requested to call the attention of our readers to an advertisement in our columns to the above ball at the Valentine Saloon. The ball room will have every improvement for the accommodation of the visitor. The refreshment room will be under the charge ofan experienced person. Mr. Lewis, and his beautiful Quadrille Band, will be in attendance to conduct the ball.— lndependent. Race Ball.— A hall came off the first evening of the races at Valentine’s Saloon. The company were both numerous and select. Dancing was kept up with great spirit until daylight. Mr. Lewis may congratulate himself with the eclat with which the affair passed o ft.-Spectator. 776
