(from a correspondent.] July 14. Several of the new company’s have started since the water has been in from the Parapara; hut what their success will be remains to he proved. Yesterday a dam which had been constructed in Golden Gully, at a cost of £250, started, and the water carried away at the least £l5O worth of tools, boxes, &c., besides taking away all the works of a large party in Wakefield Gully, which, it is supposed will be a case to bring before the Commissioner. The Quartz Hinge Company is doing pretty well ) also Lightband and Co. I don’t hear of the river party mneh. We miss the steamer very much, and I suppose you will feel her loss also.
