Hospital Board.
The monthly meeting of the Board was held on the evening of Wednesday, 2nd inst. Present - Messrs C. lnder (chairman), Davis, Ramsay, T. Hall, Morgan, Lowis, Hon. R. Sc»it and Strong. The minutbs were read and co-firmed and the outward correspondenca read and approved. The inward correspondence included copy of minutes of Sanatorium Commit tee meeting held in Dunedin nn 14th July last. Moved by Mr Morgan, and seconded by Mr Davis—That the Board approves of the action of the committee and leavee the purchase of the sanatorium aite ip their bands. —Carried.
The secretary of the Vincent Hospi tal Board wrote re the appointment of a doctor for the combined district with headquarters at Lauder. A circular was received from Dr M'Kibbio and considered by the Board at its meeting on the 26th July, when th? chairman (Mr Smart) and Mr Ritchie were appointed as delegates to meet with delegates from yeur Board and confer with Dr M'Kibbin on the above matter, und-we trust that some arrangement will be arrived at for the benefit of the residents in the district.—Moved by Mr Lowis and seconded by Mr Davis —That the chairman (Mr lnder) and Mr Morgan be appointed delegates to represent this Board and meet Vincent delegates in connection with'this matter. Carried.
Resolved That the delegates use their own discretion in coming to any decision with the ather delegates.
Letters were received from Messrs Jam«a Horn and J. Bitchener, M.P.'s, respecting hospital taxation inequali ties in the Dominion, and they promised to support legislation respecting the question.—Received.
The secretary of the Bay of Plenty Hospital Board forwarded resolution to the effect that one or more institutions be established for the reception of incurable consumptives in New Zealand. —Received.
The secretary of the South Otago Hospital Board forwarded the following resolution That the Government b* asked to undertake as a national matter the care and treatment of all T.B. cases, and that the various Boards throughout the Dominion be asked to support the proposal.—Received. The Hospital Committee's report was read and adopted.
v The question of "water pipes for ths hospital was left in the hands of the chairman and Mr Strong. Accounts amounting to £199 lis were passed for payment.
