Farmers' Union.
Maniototo Branch,
The quarterly meeting of the above branch was held at Ranfurly last Saturday afternoon, when those present were—Messrs W. Davis (chair). Smith (bon. sec), Nicolaon, Lobb, Duncan, Lowis, W. Howell, J. O'Neill, W. Mawhinney, Greer, Reed, Ward, Cromb, J, W. Kearney, T. Hall, J. Blakely, C. Dougherty. J. Devenney, W. T. Mathewaen, T. Lindsay, R. H. Tregonniag, S. Hayes. Mr C. Inder sent an apology for absence, having to attend to business in connection with the Waipiata sanatorium. Minutes. The minute* were read, and confirmed on the motion of Messrs Lowis and Lobb.
In reference to the portion referring to the presentation to the ex-secretary, Mr Reed said he bad since received the gold mounte:! fountain pen from Mr C. Inder. He had to thank that gentleman for the good taste with which he had selected the articles presented.
Correspondence. The ?ecretary read and laid on the table a copy of the Provincial Executive balance-sheet, some members having expressed a desire te know where the money went. It was as follows:

Oampru Branch contributed the largeat amount (£151) and Maniotote fii aacend with £BB. He hoped their branch would maintain its place. A copy cf the Threehing Mill Award was laid on the table, but the secretary said it had to again come before the c;:urt for consideration. Provincial Executive.
The Chairman, who had attended the conference, as one of the branch's dele gfites, gave a brief outline of the day's preceedings. Nearly every branch wag represented, and great interest was shown by the delegate! in the work There was s..me exception taken to the £1 subscription, but if anyone transferred bis fire in»urance from any other office to the union he would nave that amount. On« Southland delegate proposed a reduction of the fee but out vt the fifty or sixty delegates present only four or five voted for it. The principle cf the remit by tbis branch that farmfirs should have a co operative business of their own was generellj approved. ; On the motion of Messrs "Duncan 'and Hall, the chairman was aecordad a tot* of thanks for his services.
The gpcrerary thought that delegates should be allowed railway . fere or a pulnea fee. The chairman declined at he went down for other reasons as well. Mr Greer thought that was a quction that should not come before the meeting, and moved—That the secretary be authorised to find out and pay a delegate's travelling expenses. —Seconded by Mr Ma*\ hinney and carried.
Fetrol Supply. The secretary paid he regretted the absence of any representative from the Pupfau Branch, as they intended to bring up the question of petrol supplv. He led written to a couple of firms supplying petrol asking tr-.e 'oweet rate (Concluded on page 3).
