Tennis Tournament.
A most successful tournament was held at vVaipiata on Saturday, April 26th, when players fnm Naseby-, Ranfurly, Wedderburn, Patearoa, K>konga, and Waipiata compared. I'lay commenced at 10.30 a.m. and continued until dusk, when ona of tbo events (Gents' Singles) had to be decided by a toss between Mr Norrie, Nassby, Mr C. Schrick, Patearoa and Mr R. Pater3on, Wiiipiata. A canteen was erected on the grounds J where lunch was obtainable. After- ; noon tea was provided free of charge ; by the Waipiata Tennis Club. Some of the events were very keenly contested, when Miss Yorston, Waipiata, and Mr Norrie, Naseby, showed specially good form. The following are the results of the different events:— Gents' Singles. Mr R. Paterson, Waipiata (Mrs Mathias's, sen's Trophy). Mr C. Schrick, Patearoa (Waipiata Club's Prize). Ladies' Singles. Miss Yorston, Waipiata (Mr G. Mathias's Trophy>, Miss G. Islip, Waipiata (Club's Prize). Combined Doubles. Miss Wilson, Naseby (Mrs Martin's Trophy). Mr Norrie, Naseby (Waipiata Club's Trophy. Ladies' Doubles. Miss Islip, WaipiaU (Wbitcombe and Tomb's Trophy); Miss Yorston, Waipiata (Mr ~L. Tregonning's Trophy). Miss Mitchell, Ranfurly; Miss L. Smith, Wedderburn. Gents' Doubles. Rev. Moffatt, Naseby (Club's Trophy). Mr Norrie, Naseby (Club's Trophy). It is the intention of the Waipiata Tennis Club to lay two asphalt courts for the next season and also to make the tournament an annual event. I
