Telephone Communication.
• Mr R. Scott,; M P., has replied to the lettpr ofjrhe secretary of {the Maniototo Branch j.of* the Otagof League (published in last issuj) as follows: " -T.
Dear Sir, —I beg to receipt of yours of the 2Sth September on the above named subject, and in reply. 1 have at present no authentic information as to whether all or part of the Maniototo is to be immediately supplied -with telephonic communication, but Bball take an earlv opportunity of ascertaining the intention of the telegraph Department in this matter.
Your remarks about the long "suffering public of this the .Maniototo portion of my electorate are always marked out as ready to forego anything that may be promised in th« way of providing a telephone service for the whole of this, the only district in Central Otago without telephone com munication," is hardly correct as there are at present in this electorate, at least, two districts where the erection of telephone lines cannot be gone on with on account of shortage of material. Yours Faithfully, R. Scott.
