REMARKABLE ELECTRICAL DISPLAY.

A ramarkable electrical display was witnessed on the farm of Mr H. A Paech, Walla, New South Wales, during a storm recently. The light ring struck a tree, to which a gate was attached, and the iron hinges were cut clean through. The lightning ran from the gate around the whole fence iof this paddock, which contained 250 tons of hay and 750 of wheat partially stripped. Mr Paech says he saw the whole four miles of fencing .wire red hot and throwing off millions of sparks. At every knot in the wire they were seared through, and most of the metal droppers were welded on to -the wires. In all the lightning started about 50 different lire* ia and about this paddock. A chain break ploughed on each side of the fence gave the scores of hands qalc'ily present a good chance to fight the flames, and £3500 worth of crop was saved by their exertions. Five or six other fires - were started by the lightning in the Culcairn and Morven districts.
