SCHOLASTIC.
The last fortnight has provided a mult plicity oE public examinations, the conclusion of which will come as a welcome relief to scholars and teachers alike, both of whom have liad many months of anxious hard work. I''or the National and Education Board examination the following local candidates presented themselves at the Naseby D.H.S where the examinations were held : Helena lleiily, Margaret Reilly, Thomas Anderson all of the Poolburu school, and Alexander Jl'Laren of the Naseby school. For the pupil teacher entrance examination Miss W. tndcr and Miss G. Smith sat. For the Civil Service Junior examination live candidates presented themselves—viz., Misses Grace Smith, Mary Smith, llowena Indcr, Ethel Calder and Master Ralph Malcolm. Mr Munro was the supervisor for the examination held at the Naseby centre, being actively engaged for seven days. Miss W. Inder, who had passed the C.S.J, examination last year had to go to Dunedin as centres are only permitted where at least ten candidates are guaranteed. We wish the various candidates success and hope we shall be able to congratulate them in a future issue ; in the meantime we wish them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
