Messrs Moritzson and Co.. write Under date of 20th April :
"We have.had cables, to-day from , Sout,h, Africa • ordering, a thousand cases "of chickens, equal to 15,000 birds,, also a thousand cases of fowls, equal to also an order for 500 • turkeys and for 100'- cases of. geese. We are. very aorryto'say that we haye not been able to take up, this order as :we have already plenty of orders' in hand, and tlj.3 birds. coming forward very slowly. Since we reported i to, yon last the prices, all round have been raised by our South African tjrien,ds, and th.is should surely be, an inducement to, the country people to .forward) the poultry to the Poultry Department on our account while the dernaud i& on. We wish, you to, be good enough to give thjs. wide- publicity sp that farmers can forward the poultry while there.- is a. chance, of clearing them, ou.t o£ the country, and while prices, which are the highest that are offering,, last, seeing thatj the 'Governments pay the railage on. all poultry- that is, consigned.,"
