MANIOTOTO BRANCH. Mr Eerdraan has forwarded the following letter to the secretary (Mr R. Scott), which explains itself:— Colonial Secretary's Office, : Wellington, 16th September, 1904. Sir, —I have the honour to acknowledge the; receipt of your letter of the 10th instant en-: closing a letter of the sth instant received: by you from the Secretary to the Maniototo Branch of the New Zealand Fanners' Union, and asking that in accordance with the request contained therein the protection on seagulls may be removed within the County of Maniototo owing to their having become a nuisance to the sheepfarmers therein. • In Teply I have- to inform you thai His Excellency the Governor has accordingly been advised to declare that seagulls of any species shall cease to be within the operation of the Animals Protection Acts within that county.
