MANIOTOTO FANCIERS' CLUB.

The annual meeting of the above society was held on Wednesday evening. There was a very fair attendance of members. .Dr Church (president) occupied the chair. The Secretary, Mr J. Kirhy, read the minutes of last annual meeting, which were confirmed on the motion of Messrs Kirk and Byrne. The balance-sheet was read by the treasurer (Mr Moss) and also a statement of the receipts and expenditure in connection with the late show. The latter showed that the receipts were:—Members' tickets, £l4 10s ; entry fees,£l2 Us; doors. £l3 Is 6d ; tea room. £4lls9d; advertising on schedule. £5 12s Gd ; speci:.l prizes, £4 6s; total, £54 )2s 9d. The expenditure was:—Bent of halls, £2 15s ; printing, £9 12s 6d ; rent of coops, etc, £2 os ; affiliation fee £1 la ; labour, £8 3s ; caitagc, £2 12s 9d ; material," £2 14s; judge's fee, £4 ; insurance, 17s ; secretary's expenses. £6 10s Cd ; prizes, £2O" 19s Gd ; total, £<» l 10s 3d. Therefore the loss on the show was £6 17s 6d. The balance-sheet showed the balance in hand at the beginning of the year to have been £3O 7s; and deducting the loss on the show, leaves a credit balance now of £23 9s Gd, of which £2O is in fixed deposit. Liabilities are represented by a debt of £1 Is.

In making a few comments, Mr Mosssaid tbat the loss was principally due to the very bad winter. The falling off in entries showed a difference of £3 as compared with the previous year, the doors. £4 10s and special prizes, £4 10s or £5 There was also a larger expenditure. £7 odd of which had been expended in priz-s. They had received fewer special prizes than formerly and had had to draw more on the funds of the society, besides which they had increased the minimum priz; from Is to2sGd. • The President, in moving the adoption of the balance-sheet, said the season wai certainly against them. Even the birds that came from Dunedin were nearly all frosted in the comb, weather prevented anything like the number of entries of previous years. The falling off in special prizes was due to the absence of Mr Ginsberg from the district. As Miss Charters had come all the way from the Taieri for two yea:s to judge some of the c*as«=es. and hail refused any remuneration or even to take her train fare, he thought it would be graceful act on the part of the society to make her a little present. Next year. they would probably have a better result;.as it had been decided to hold Uie,.shqw in June. In seconding the motion, Mr-Cutten said he thought the loss of £6 or £7 was a much better state of affairs than they cou'd have.hoped for. considering all things, and showed that the. affairs of the society hhd been well conducted. The motion was then carried. Office-bearers were electe-l as follow*: Patron, Mr A L Herdman, M.H.R.; president Mr Moss; vice-presidents. Messrs Cu»ten. ■Logan.Kirk.
