The following . application* to purchase land held under pepetual lease was approved:—Mary A Inder, section 12, block 2, Gimnierburu district. A Christchnrch wire states that an alarming accident, happily unatlendedlby injury to life or limb, occurred in the railway yard at Ly ttelton last night. The passenger train moving out was struck on the side by waggons being shmied, with the result that scleral freezing cars at the head of the train were derailed and the line blocked for three hours.
Sir Joseph Ward's son Cyril had a narrow escape at Lincoln College last week, falling a distance of 25 feet and getting bis leg crushed.
A meeting of the Cabinet and of the Executive Council will be held to-night to discuss a variety of matters not divulged.
