Orchestral Society's concert' to-night. Tijh Education Board have decided to offer 10 senior and 10 junior scholarships to be competed for this year.

At the meeting of Jthe .Education Board on Wednesday Lower Kyeburn .school was granted half cost of fencing £3-17s and Upper Kyeburn school £2 10a for a new stove.—A petition from .19 'settlers in Lauder asking for the removal of the school to a more central position was re» ferred to the inspector for a report.
On Monday afternooon Messrs P.. and 11. Law met with an unpleasant experience while driving into Naseby. At the top of the Bullarnt Hill the horse they weie driving took fright at a perambulator and ran down the steep bank on the right hand. Before reaching the bottom the trap capsized, and threw the occupants out, giving then) a severe shaking. Tbe vehicle got considerably damaged. Ok Monday evening Mr Lightfoot's littfe" gill in falling ofTa chair managed to pull the lamp over on top of her.
