PATEAROA CRICKET CLUB.

At the beginning of last season I wrote that our fellows did not intend to take any defeats fur Unit season, and having in a manner committed them to a certain course, of procedure, they loyally backed me up becoming out on top in all their matches. Four matches were played altogether, three against our Naaeby friends and the other against Linnburn. In bowling and fielding the work done was up to the average of former seasons, while in batting, with one or two exceptions! a considerable improvement was exhibited. A good innings of 37 by \V. King, in the last match, (rained for him the president's bat, which was presented by Mr J. Coram to the player with the highest batting average, but O. Cambridge and F. Schrick batted more consistently. Although we are in possession of half-a-dozen good bowlers, nearly all the bowling for the year was done by Johnston and M'Leun. I append the year's averages :
