MANIOTOTO MOUNTED RIFLES.

A very successful meeting of the M'aniototo Mounted Rifle Corps was held at Banfurly on Saturday, -26 th ult.. A parade was first held at which 73 members were present, all the divisions being -well represented. Some very useful drill was gone thi'ough. The Corps presents a smart appearance, and some of the mounts are really flue animals—in fact, inferior horses aTe the exception. After parade the company was measured for uniforms, a representative of H.illenstein Bros, being present for the purpose. The first general meeting was tlmn held, when officers were elected as follows : | C.ipiain, R. Logan; lieutenant for Hyde division, R. W. Trotter; lieutenant for St, 'iatlians division, A Armour ; lieutenant for Ranfurly division, P. Jl. Law. The captain nominated as non-commissioned officers: Trooper Christian to be Pergeani-major ; Trooper G. Bell, quartermaster-sergeant ; Trooper R. J. Blair, sereeant,; Trooper Ormond Hughes, sergeant for St. Batlians division. The test of the sergeants will be appointed on the recommendations of the lieutenants of the various divisions. The committee will consist of the commissioned officers and two non-coms. Dr Stenhuus>e was appointed hon. sergeant-captain. After the election of officers the armß were issued. The company have now their maximum number, 84. The members are very enthusiastic, and at the meeting the St. Bath'ans division out of a total of twenty-five had only one absentee.
