ACCIDENTS.

On Monday last while Mr And. Haig. jun. . of Shepherd's Flat, and Mr T. Hughes were returning home from the St. Bathans races a rather serious accident happened, which will give the former an enforced rest for some time. The accident was due to the breaking of the axle of the buggy, which resulted in both being thrown out. When Mr Haig was picked up it was found that bi« leg was broken above the ankle and subsequent examination showed that both bones were fractured. He was quickly removed to Shepherd's Flat where first aid was rendered by Mr D. M'Gregor. of Vinegar Hill, after which Dr Gibson (locum tenens for Dr Stenbouse) attended him and set the limb. The patient is now progressing favourably. Mr Hughes luckily escaped with nothing worse than a severe shaking. Mr Jas. Enwright, while proceeding home from the races, also met with an accident? As he alighted from the dray his foot caught and he was thrown down in front of th« wheel which passed over both legs. It-was fortunate that the dray was not heavily laden or h* would not have escaped with only a kyery severe bruising as he luckily did: ; While at play on Monday, Rose, the little daughter of Mr Jas. Caldwell, fell from a table and fractured her forearm. The child was taken to Naseby where l)r Church set the injured limb. It was found that bcth bones of the forearm were broken.
