The following have been selected as part of the Australian cricket team to visit England :—Gregory. Noble. Kelly, Worrell, M-Leod, Truihble. Hill, Jones, and Darling. Major Wardill has been selected as manager. Thre3 test matches will be played in Australia. The first will be played in Sydney on March 4, the second in Melbourne on March 11, and the third in Adelaide on March 18.
The Lyttelton Times sayn:—" In spite of the'fact that reporters were eTcluded from the meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council on Friday evening, when the selection of the New Zealand team was under discussion, the personnel of the team seemed to be generally known on Saturday. The following are stated to be the selection:—• G. MUIb (Auckland). H. B. Lnsk (Hawke's Bay), F. AshboU, A- R. Holdship, A. B. Williams, and J. A. Richardson (Wellington), L. T. Uobcroft, W. Pearce, and D. Reese (Canterbury). J. Baker, A. Downes, A. H. Fisher, and A. Clarke (Otago)." The match Southland v. Otago was played at Inyercargill on Monday and Tuesday, ani resulted rather in favour of Otago. In the first innings Otago scored 187 (Baker 44, Fisher 68, Austin 24, Geddes 17. Webb 12), and in the second 146 (Baker 24. Johnston 15, Fisher 10, Best 12, Williams 14). In the first innings Southland was all out for 139 (Burnes6o. Purdue 11, Howden 20) and in the second venture had five wickets down for 61 (Kane 11, Burnes 38). Owing to heavy rains at Wellington the Wellington v. Hawke's Bay match could not be begun until Tuesday and therefore was left unfinished. Wellington 153 and 43 for one wicket, Hawkes' Bay 108 in the first innings.
