A pablie meeting was held here on Satur-day-evening last to discuss a few matters of interest to the district. There was not a large attendaaee Mid lirK. WUrtamson was ■cnlledto the chair. The following resolutions were carried unanimously::—(l) That the chairman write the Cbief-postmaeter, Dunedin, tad request bin to have Kokonga pat in direct communication with Kaseby in re the telephone. (2) That the chairman write the traffic manager of railways, Dnnedin, requesting him to appoint a permanent caretaker at the' railway station here. The question of forming a medical club in the district was then discussed bat nothing was agreed upon, so the matter was allowed to drop in the meantime. December, 27, 1898.
