NASEBY MUSICAL UNION.

The first grand concert of the above society, under the direction of Mr and Madame Cadzow, will take place in the Town Hall, Naseby, on Thursday, the 29; h inst., and promises to be,a great success. The programme to be presented will be a miscellaneous one, comprising glees, trios, quartettes, duets, songs, instrumental solos and orchestra! -selections. : Operatic selections'will be given from "H.M.S Pinafore.' "Maritana," and "II Trovatore." The full programme will be give'! in next Thursday's issue. Mr and .VJadame Cadzow are endeavouring to present a programme that will amuse and interest booh the educated and musically uneducated members of the community.

The prices of admission are 2s and Is. Seats can be reserved for any particular part of the hall,on application to Mr Erans, chemist, by payment of an extra, Is. As it will be moonlight an*) us the roads by the 29th inst. are sure to be in good ord-r again, country people will have au. opportuuity of attending. Mr Cadzow as a tenor vocalist, and Madame Cadzow as a ptaniste, are with- ut doubt second to none in New Zealand. Mr Cadzow, besides singing several songs, will take in all the concerted numbers,,and M-idame Cddzt.w will preside at the piano. Naseby and its surrounding!) are lucky in having at their command the services of two such talented artists, and to hear their performance alone is a sufficient treat itself. New Zealand has been dubbed the Italy of the south in recognition of the many sweet and powerful voices she has given to the musical world. It therefore behoves (he people of Naseby and its surroundings to keep up to the high musical standard attained by the rest of the colony. A greater interest should be taken in the fostering anil training of our singers We have good voices in Naseliy, »nd there is no reason why a little more energy should not be infused into the plan of keeping a good musical society afloat. At present we have a lady, and gentleman in our mi Ist psuuliarly qualified to undertak the control and training of such an'organisation as \ye are advocating, We refer lo Mr and Madame Cadzow, who without doubt' are eminently ritted to conduct a,properly organised musical society to popularity and success.
