Lokdos, Feb. 17. The wool sales have been postponed owing to fog. The "World'' alleges that the Emperoi of Germany is suffering from cancer in the ear and throat, which accounts for the irritableness displayed by him of late. The conversion of the remaining New Zealand stocks is expected to be a success. It is reported the rebels are marching on Santiago, the capital of Chili. The strike has extended to Swansea and other ports. The United Labour Councils of London having withdrawn its obnoxious manifesto, a compromise with the Shippiug Federation is considered probable. - r " . Feb. 18. Mr. Reynolds, dairy expert from New Zealand, has opened a depot in London for the sale of produce from that colony. Bridges at Johnstown, United States, have been demolished, and people are fl.viug from the place. A boom carrying 4,000,000 logs threatens the safety of the towu. Dr. Liebrich claims to have discovered a cure for tuberculosis superior to Dr Koch's and declares that it can be injected under the skin, and does not induce feve.-, while its effects are harmless. Melbourne, Feb. 18. Thirty thousand sheep perished in a bush fire at Lismore, about 100 miles inland. The damage by bush fires in Stawell district is estimated at £30,000. Many of the settlers are completely ruined: Sydney, Feb. 18. At a representative meeting of New Zealandera it was decided to give Sir George Grey a suitable reception on his arrival here as one of the New Zealand delegates to the Federal Convention. Adelaide pasloralists and shearers have arrived at a satisfactory settlement. The publicans of Clermont threaten to throw their houses open to Unionist shearers, but the authorities will close all hotels in tiie district if the trouble becomes more acute. A large tract of country in the disturbed districts is now on fire. Large bodies of armed unionists are I arriving at Clermont armed with revolvers and Winchester.-?.
