Smith put the following question : Should a person holding 640 acres"bf"nrsfclass land whose rental has been reduced below LI per acre consider his land in consequence of such reduction as only of secondclass value ; and if so was he at liberty to take up an additional section ?—ln reply, the Chairman stated that this question was one, which the Minister of Lands had not'defi** nitely settled, and that" the Chief Commis;--sioncr, at present in Wellington, intended to. interview Mr. Richardson on the point. A block of land in Woodland district, containing 2500 acres, will shortly be thrown open for settlement. The land has been divided into 16 sections, the areas of which range from 10 acres to 294 acres and the price from 15s to 40s. = Mr. D. Geoffrey wrote, stating that the sectional survey going on at Maniototo included portion of fence erected by him. He asked that in event of his being an unsuccessful applicant for land that he be allowed to remove his fence or obtain compensation therefor.—The matter was referred to the Chief Surveyor with the view of giving effect to the request. An applicatioi. by J. E. G. Harrex to purchase section 16, block xv., Blackstone, was referred to Government, with a recommendation to give effect to the application. Mr. W. L. Simpson (on behalf of J. Drummey, lessee of small grazing run 244f) asked for permission for his client to reside on his farm in Ida Valley, which was situated about six miles from the run.—Permission was granted.
