ORIGINAL POETRY.

THE MINING BOOM. A stood time is coming—has oome, I might say, *• For hungry depression has Just gone away, And now amongst us appears in full bloom Trade's great restorer—a big mining boom. I'll mention a few of its glittering wares Which are for disposal in one or more shares, And regret very much that I cannot And time To mention them all, sir, in this booming rhyme. Foremost amongst them's a large golden beach. Now offered in sections at two sovereigns each. This Is a bargain we'll never see twice, In shape It resembles, yes, too tmiehee rice. ror further particulars apply unto me, Or to Mr. Sew Hoy, our wealthy Chinee. The next thing of merit's a rich rivor lied In which eels are as plentiful, so it is snld, As leaves in the Autumn or flowers In the Spring, And the future owners of this lovely thing Are four mighty lawyers and one squatter king. iP.S.— I forgot for to mention one Mr. M'Phall lag seen In that river a large golden whale.) The third richest prize is a beautiful lake, Where a mermaid is seen every morning to take A dive to Its bottom and bring up, I'm told, One handful of sllvor, another of gold. This is a twin brother of the last thing I named, And, like its twin brother, for eels, too, is famed. These are a few that's most worthy of note, And for whose soundness, sir, I will vote ; They all have my blessing, likewise mv best wishes— ForthU I expect to get some of the fishes, But In the meantime Til away to my room, And play on the fiddle " the big ini.iing boom." Boomino.
