GOLDEN QUARRY.

We reproduce below Mr. J. -A. Miller's letter apologising for his rer marks in reference to the size and extent of the reef known as the Golden Quarry, and mentioned by us in a recent issue as an '■ Ota go Mount Morgan." It will be seen that our report has been true and correct, and that Mr. Miller's " baseless fabric of a vision " is a substantial rpality, and is, what we said before, an " Otago Mount Morgan." The Editor " Daily times." SiR, —there being two localities which are referred to as Golden Quarries iu the neighborhood of Macraes, it seems that riiy remarks, made in your is-ue of the 14th inst. (Wednesday last), have given rise to some misunderstand ing. Although I took care to define the locality I alluded to veryderiiiitelv, it was confounded with the Golden Quarry at Horse Flat, near Macraes, at which place there does exist an immense reef, from which trial crushing went liidwt. per ton at Kincaid and M'Queeivs battery, and at the Huntington mill; and it is this reef to which the Mount Ida Chkonicle referred, the confusion arising from the fact that " Deep Dell " was mentioned by the Chronicle as the locality of the reef instead of " Horse Fhit." From this explanation it will be seen that my remarks do not at all apply to the " Golden Quarry at Horse Flat." Trusting that this correction will prevent further misunderstanding,— I am, etc., John A. jJillar. Isenthorne, August 16.
