BOROUGH COUNCIL
- The ordinary meeting was held on Thursday, 2nd February, ISB2. Present—his Worship the Mayor, Crs Anderson, Webber, Jacob, Ash, Dawson, and Inder. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. CHORAL SOCIETY. A request from the Choral Society for a concession in the charge for the hall and piano was read. Moved by Cr Anderson, seconded by Cr Inder—" That this Council, having in every respect met the wishes 'of the Choral Society in refei'ence to-the weekly charges for the use of the Town Hall and the piano are at present not in a position to meet the demand of the Eev. H. J. Davis in his capacity as Secretary to the above named Society for a further reduction." Carried, Cr Ash-dissent-ing. DEEP LEADS. --• Moved by Cr Jacob, seconded by Cr Inder, and carried unanimously—"That this Council subsidise the Deep Lead Association to the extent of "JOs in the £l, the subsidy not to exceed £50." WATER SUPPLY. Resolved —" That his Worship the Mayor consult Mr Browne, Civil Engineer, in regard to the water supply, and that a meeting of 'he Council be called by the Mayor to consider the matter." . COMPLAINT. Mr Spillia'rd wrote complaining that Mr Bromley was working away ground dangerously near his (Spilliard's) residence. •Moved by Cr Ash, seconded by Cr Webber, and carried unanimously—'' That the receipt of Mr Spillard's letter be acknowledged, and that he be informed thab the Council does not intend to fc ike any action in the matter referred to therein " ; LICENSING ACT JTORMS. The Clei'k was empowered to have the necessary forms printed. FINANCE. Accounts amounting to £l9 were passed for payment.
