Cough Syrup.—S. A. B. sends the following : For making the best cough syrup take one ounce eadi of thoroughwort, slippery-elm, flaxseed, gum arable and stick liquorice. Simmer together in one quart of water until the strength is entirely extracted. Strain carefully; add one pint best molasses and and half a pound of loaf sugar ; simmer all well together, and when cold bottle tightly. Dose, table-spoonfull. Macaroni.—People who like macaroni will find pleasure in eating it when prepared In this way : Roll it until it is tender, taking care to preserve the shape so far as possible. When it is done drain off all the water- and pour over it a little sweet milk, with a lump of butter and plenty of pepper and salt. While the macaroni is boiling cook in a separate saucepan enough tomatoes to make a jtfmt when stewed. When the macaroni is ready for the table pour the tomatoes over it; servo hot.
Peach Pie. —Peel, stone and slice the peaches ; line a pie-plate with a good crußt and lay on your fruit, sprinkling sugar liberally over them in proportion to their sweetness—very ripe peaches require comparatively little—allow three peach kernels, chopped fine, to each pie ; pour in a very little water, and bake with an upper crust, with crossbars of paste across the top. Some simply par* the peaches and put in whole, packing them well and sweetening freely ; in this caeo they should be covered entirely with crust.
