MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.

The - ordinary meeting of. the Borough Council was held on Thursday, 7th inst. Present—his Worship the Mayor, Ors Glenn, Newman, Webber, and Inder. * The minutes of previous. meeting were read and confirmed. '"■ ' CORRESPONDENCE.' Letter from Mrs Clarke,- complaining of horses breaking: in her fence ; also that a ditch had been filled up by Mr Thomas Stephens, while carting gravel for the Corporation.- ~ Letter from Mr Jas. Brown, complaining of a cob wall being in., the. middle of Ness Street, erected by Mrs'Mellor. Mrs Clarke's, letter was referred to the Inspector of Nuisances. The Inspector's attention was also drawn to the number of horses and cattle wandering about the town. In reference to Mr Brown's letter, the .matter had already been dealt with on a former occasion. WATER WOEKS LOAN. Moved by Cr Glenn, seconded by Cr Inder :—" That this Council is of opinion that a special loan of £2OOO should be raised for the purpose of constructing Water Works in the Borough, under the provision of the 'Municipal Corporations Act, 1866.' " .Ayes<—Crs. Glenn, Webber, and Indei\, Noes—Cr Newman. The Mayor declared . the resolution carried. . " ' "■' . finance. ' Accounts amounting to £25 8s were passed for payment.
