PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
The Presbytery of Dunstan met at Ophir on Wednesday, the 15th June* when there was present the Revs. Messrs Smith, Lothian, and Blackie, and Mr Rolland, Elder. Mr Smith/moderator in the chair. ■, ■. LAPDER DISTRICT. The Clerk read the Report of 'tfie Committee appointed at last meeting of Presbytery to" make preliminary arrangements for; settlement of a resident missionary in the Lauder District, from which it appeared that Mr Morris had agreed to come as missionary, and might soon be expected, that the people had been visited, and that sufficient means for his support would be provided. The following motion was agreed to : That the Report of the Committee appointed at last meeting of Presbytery to meet with the people in the Lauder District concerning the appointment of a missionary be adopted. That the..thanks of the Presbytery be ac-' corded to the Committee, and especially to the Convener, Mr Rolland ; that the Presbytery approve of the arrangements made with ■Mr-Morris ; that application be made to the Church Extension Committee for-the usual grant; and that the question of building a cottage mansa be postponed for the present. ADDITION TO CHURCH SITE AT CROMWELL: - The Presbytery considered an application' from the Presbyterian Church Committee at Cromwell, for sanction to their purchasing an additional section adjoining present church site, and the following resolution was agreed to :—" That, as Section 36, Blk. 111, immediately adjoins the present site of the church at Cromwell, and its purchase is necessary to the security of the church building, the Presbytery sanction the purchase of said section."
REGULATIONS ANENT AGED AXD INFIRM MINISTERS FUND: The Synod having, at its last meeting, ordered regulations as to distribution of aged and infirm ministers fuud to be sent down to Presbyteries and Kirk Sessions for their consideration, it is resolved that the Kirk Sessions within the bounds be requested to consider regulations anent aged and infirm ministers fund, and report at next meeting. ?f Presbytery, and that the Presbytery, at its next meetings take the same into consideration ; the Clerk, as soon as possible, to Obtain information" on the whole subject from the Clerk of the Synod. > ■ .. . RECORDS. It was agreed that Kirk Sessions and Committees of Management in the congregation within the bounds be requested to send in their Records and Communion Rolls for examination at the next meeting of Presbytery. CORRESPONDING MEMBERS. The Moderator mentioned that no corresponding members had been appointed in the Presbytery by the Synod to the various standing Committees of Synod, and it was resolved that the Clerk be requested to bring the matter under the notice of the Clerk of Synod before its next meeting. '- THANKS. It was agreed to accord a vote of thanks toH. W. Robinson, Esq., R. M., for granting the use of the Court House at Ophir for the meeting of Presbytery. The Presbytery adjourned, to meet at Ophir on Wednesday, 21st September;
