Mr Byron Moore has accepted the secretaryship of the Victoria Racing Club. *'• The ' Times' says : Several schemes have been propounded during the past few days in connection with the prosecution of the Otago Central railway; On Thursday, 16th, the Committee of the Chamber of Commerce meet, and tho subject will then be fully discussed. It is expected that the two City members (Messrs Oliver and Stewart) will be present, and it is hoped a large number of the Committee will attend on the occasion. Telegrams are to hand from New York reporting that at an interview held with O'Donovan Rossa he denied that tho Fenians were guilty of complicity in the recent attempt to blow up the Liverpool Town Hall, but stated that ho was awaro that in December last explosives were placed in the hold of H.M.S. Dotterel, which was destroyed by an explosion in the .Straits.of Magellan on April 26th. R
