MUNICIPAL WATERWORKS.

At the meeting of the Municipal Council on Thursday evening last the result of the votes re general water supply was announced as follows: —Ayes, 81 ; .Noes, 36. Cr. Brookes thereupon moved and Cr. Hohswell seconded—"The ratepayers of the Borough having been informally consulted by circular as to the advisability of extending the water supply throughout the township, and generally of improving the supply, at a cost of £2OOO, and as the replies received indicate a general approval of the bcheme by a large majority, this Council does resolve : 1 hat waterworks be constructed or be partly purchased and partly cons ructed with the lealst possible delay, and for the purpose of complying with the provisions of the Municipal Corporations Waterworks Act, 1872, requisite to render the undertaking an author sed undertaking under the Act, his Worship the Mayor, Crs. Gleun, Horswell, and the mover be appointed a Committee with full power to do all things requisite under the said Act in order that the Council may be in a position to raise the required sum of £2OOO under the Naseby Waterworks Empowering Act, 1576, such Committee to report from time to time."
