MARRIAGE OF ILMA DE MURSKA.

There were married at the office of the Registrar, Dunedin, at forty minutes past two of the clock on Monday, the fifteenth day May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy six, lima Thea Anderson, widow, aged 28 years, to John Thomas Hill, bachelor, aged 33 years, both of whom were declared to have been residing in Dunedin for one month. The marriage of a Mr. Hill with a Mrs. Anderson would not as a rule attract much attention, .and under ordinary circumstances, might hare remained private; but when the fair widow was the celebrated lima De Murska and the bridegroom the famous Maestro Strauss Ilia, the news flew round the town, in a few minutes was wired all over the Colony, and probably to Australia.

The wedding ceremony wis .private. Mdlle, De Murska and Maestro Ilia walked quietly down to the Registrar's office, which is situated off a gloomy passage leading along the back of the Resident Magistrate's Court, and the only others present were the witnesses, Mr. W. Parker Street, clerk of the District Court, and Mr. Sinclair, solicitor, who chanced to call in on business. Neither bride nor bridegroom were clad in bridal costume, and the marriage was purely a legal one, as in contradistinction to what is called the religious ceremony. A little bird has whispered that a request was made to the officiating official that the proceedings should be kept secret, but that gentleman had to intimate that the iegister waa open to any person who paid the searching' fee of 2s. Gd. The same birdie says that a tear was not shed by the blushing bride, and that she did not say to 'ier spouse—- " Hinc ilia lachryma." Public curiosity, was. soon on the qui vive, and the Registrar was busy during the rest of the afternoon taking half-crowns from persons who wished to inspect the register.—' Guardian.'
