Mr. W. Smart, who is so well known in St. Bathans and Welshman's Gully, lately left for Melbourne. Being anxious to ascertain the real value of the gold from Welshman's, he, in selling to the bank at Dunstan Creek, asked for five ounces of his gold to be given back to him.
