It is reported that a substance resembling meerschaum lias been discovered in the north of Auckland. A rather singular coincidence ocat the Blue Spur during the past week. The wife of a miner named Herman Osihers presented her liege lord with a twin son and daughter on the 13th ult.; but they were weakly, and died on the 18th. On that day, about two hours after their deaths, the wife of John Olderog, mate of Osmers, also gave birth to twins, ahoy and a girl, who are reported to be strong and healthy. Truly this mining partnership promises to be productive of population on the "West Coast.
