LICENSING MEETING, NASEBY. Juste 1, 1869.
(Before H. W. Robinson, Esq., E.M., W. " Sanders, and C. W. Cliapman, Esqs., Js.P.)
John Boss. Application for general license at Macraes. Adjourned till l\th June for report of police. Thomas Grace. Application for general license for the house at Naseby known as the Sportsman's Arms..... The granting of this license was opposed by. the police on the ground that there was not the stabling required by the Ordinance, and that there was no occasion for any additional licensed house. Adjourned till 11th ins t. to enable the applicant to make "the necessary additions. The chairman said that the practice hitherto adopted by the Bench had been to grant almost every application, and it would be unfair on the present occasion to go to the other extreme, more particularly as the house had always been licensed, and there appeared to be no objection whatever to the character of the applicant himself. . Mr. Sub-Inspector Sincock said that there were already too many licensed houses in this town in proportion to the population, and that, in future, all applications for licenses for houses which were not possessed of every requirement under the Ordinance would be strenuously opposed by the police. The Chairman expressed himself glad to hear that such was his determination.
James Donolly. Application for removal of license from Antrim Hotels JNTaseby, to Kyeburn Diggings. No objection ; application granted.
