Molly Shields, aged 16, was thrown from her horse at Otaki on Tuesday afternoon and rendered unconscious. Slip suffered a fracture of the skull and was removed to the Palmerston North Hospital, but later died. Her horse shied at a timber waggon while she was crossing the Otaki Bridge.
