A short macrocarpa branch in which the figure of a man was clearly outlined formed a remarkable curio which was brought to Auckland recently. The figure had resulted from the action of .another branch rubbing against the barli and wearing iit completely away, sc that the edges formed the figure oi a man against the wood. About 4in, long the figure was particularly life, like about the head and shoulders eyes, a moustache and well-partec hair being easily distinguished.
