NATIONAL PARTY DELEGATES MEET. National Party branch delegates from all parts of the Otaki electorate met in the Otaki Railway Hall on Tuesday evening, Mr J. Barclay presiding. The main object of the meeting was to make the election plans. The electorate secretary reported an increase of 450 in the membership in the past three months and the treasurer’s statement was verj satisfactory. (Mr G. At Monk, the party’s candidate, and Mr E. E. Hammond, Dominion vice-president, spoke on. the election campaign. It was decided to advertise that those who became sick on the eve of or duiing election day could ensure their voting rights by getting info immediate communication with the electorate secretary or any branch secretary. The subject of Maoris making thfc mistake of voting at both Maori and European elections was mentioned. It was thought thatjhey were probably unaware that a penalty of two years’ 11110118001116111 was provided for. At the chairman’s suggestion it was decided to meet again after the election to arrange for the continuation of the organisation. NATIONAL PARTY DANCE. An enjoyable and successful dance was conducted in the Masonic Hall last evening under the auspices of the local branch of the N.Z. National Party, and the function was well patronised by local and district residents. Music for the dancing was supplied by Mr Ll Matter and, under the efficient supervision of the Mayor (Mr M. E. Perreau) who officiated as MIC., proceedings went with a swing and one and all spent a very happy evening. A popular interlude was an exhibition of tap dancing by Mr E. Shortt, the accompaniment for which was played by Mr L. Mattar, who also presided at the piano for community singing. ■Supper was served by the lady members of the committee,. after which dancing was indulged in until a late hour. A competition held during the evening was won by Mr R. Evans. The two candidates for the Otaki seat were nominated as follows: —> Mr L. G. Lowry (Labour): By Messrs E. A. Wloolley, Bruce Knox, G- E. Swan, A. G. Allan, and K. D. McKenzie. Mr G. A. Monk (National) : Messrs iC. C. Holmes, Ken. Shaw, John Barclay, and Lancelot J. Hunter. •Mr L. G. Lowry, Labour Candidate for Otaki, will address the electors in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening next. Mr G. A. Monk, National candidate for Otaki, is scheduled to a gain address local electors in the Masonic Hall on the night before the election and will visit Manawatu Heads during the afternoon. The committee responsible for the organising in connection with the monster .euchre and dance to he held in the Town Hall on Thursday next under the auspices of the Foxton branch of the Labour Party, report arrangements well in hand and that everything points to a record crowd being present.
