FOXTON UNITED SPORTS ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL AIEETING. The annual meeting of the Foxfon United Sports Association was held in the Racing Ciub office last evening and was presided over by Air D. Christie. Also present were Messrs IT. E.., S., and J. Barber, !W. Ross, J. M. Thomson, H~ Dustin R. O. Hornblow, H. Hannav, R. Wall G. Woods, D. Collison (P.N.), D. R. Barron, H. Hamer, S. E. Cowley, M. E. Perreau and the seergtary (Mr E. V. Bryant). Apologies for absence were received from the President (Mr Si R. Austin) and Mr R. Bryant. A motion of-sympathy was passed to Air J. M. Thqjnson m his recent bereavement. The annual report and balancesheet, as previously published, were' read and adopted, the Chairman commenting on the loss sustained last year as a result of the wet day. The financial position was given a thorough overhaul and the sec-, rotary submitted) a statement show., mg how considerable savings could be effected during the coming year. It was finally decided to hold a motor cycle sports meeting on Labour Day, as usual, permission having been granted for the use of the course. The following new members were elected:—Messrs A. V. Eryant; treasurer: Air D. Christie; auditor: Air R. Rangiheuea. T, t was decided to place on record the services rendered the Association by AH Austin. The President also made reference to the pending departure from Foxton of Air J. AI. Thomson, who had been associated with the Association since its inception. He re. glutted his departure as Air Thomson had been a valuable member and had rendered signal service as assistant secretary. It was decided to elect Air Thomson a life member, which privilege he suitably acknowledged. In thank, mg the President for his remarks, Air Thomson said he had enjoyed his connection with the Association and he would keep in touch with it, as long as he remained in New Zealand. / MV D. R, Barron suggested that whippett racing should be introduced into the Association’s program, me as a means of filling in time between races. He said that he had been in touch with the officials of the Petone Club and they were prepared to co-operate with the Association on Labour Day. Tlic suggestion was received with enthusiasm and arrangements were left in the hands of Mr Barron.
