VALEDICTORY.

MISS J. FRANCIS FAREWELLED

A very jolly tune was spent at the residence of Mr and Mrs H. A. Hannay, of Purcell St., last evening, when members of All Saints’ Choir gathered to bid farewell to Miss Jean Francis, one of the choir’s most popular members, who is leaving Foxton at an early date. Dancing, interspersed with items, happily whiled away the hours, and impromptu items contributed by all present created much merriment.

At th,e conclusion of supper, which was served by Mrs H. A. Hannay and willing assistants, opportunity was taken by Mr H. A. Hannay (Choirmaster) to make a presentation to Miss Francis, on behalf of her fellow members. Mr Hannay referred to the long and faithful service rendered by Miss Francis as a member of the choir and! said that it was with deep regret that they had learned of her pending departure from Foxton. After wishing Miss Francis every happiness in her new sphere, Mr Hannay called on her to accept a handsome hat-box as a token of esteem from those present.

Musical honours were accorded the guest of the evening, following which Miss Francis suitably responded, thanking Mr Hannay for his kind remarks and those present for their gift.

On Sunday mornings last, the children of All Saints’" Sunday School said good-bye to a dearly--1 loved member of their teaching staff, Miss Jean Francis, who has been in charge of the kindergarten class for some six years and who has won the affection of her pupils and fellow , teachers alike. Miss Francis leaves Foxton at an early date and opportunity was taken on Sunday to present her with a small token of esteem from the Sunday school pupils and teachers, in the form of a Bible. The presentation was made by the Vicar, Rev. 'E. W. Burgin, who thanked Miss Francis' for her past, services and extended best wishes for her future happiness. Miss Francis suitably replied and prior to the presentation she was presented with a dainty bouquet bv Master John Burgin.
