YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUBS.
CHANGES IN CONSTITUTION Outlining proposed alterations to the constitution of the" New Zealand Federation, of Young Farmers’ Clubs, Mr S. Freeman, Dominion organiser, explained at a meeting of the district committee of the Manawatu Young Farmers’ Club held in Palmerston North on Saturday, that suggested improvements were that each club have only three advisory members in addition to an advisory president. Further, that each club appoint three delegates, two active and one advisory, to the district annual meeting, and that an annual meeting of all clubs within a district be held in April of each year - to elect a district executive. It was decided to forward a recommendation that any member of the New Zealand Council should be erf-officio a member of the district committee. Further proposals were for an annual meeting of the federation in May, and for the constitution of the Dominion executive. It was decided to recommend that the two to one representation as between active and advisory members should be preserved by stipulating that honorary members have no vote.
The object of the proposals, it was pointed out, was to ensure better representation to active members on all committees, and to abolish the island councils, which Mi Freeman described as needless duplications, and which might become parichial. The meeting endorsed the principle of an age limit of 30. years for the first two years and twen-ty-five thereafter.
