A warning that in future men who were convicted of making false statements •to • obtain benefit -under the -Unemployment Act would he, sentenced to. a term of imprisonment, was given by Mr J. H. Luxford, -S'.Mj., in the Magistrate’s 'Court, Wellington, yesterday, when Sydney Wicks, ■aged 25, appeared •on two charges, of making false statements. sHe was fined £5 on the first charge and convicted and discharged on. the second.
